Common Windows 8 Installation Errors

- During Installation your computer may stop the installation process if the system cannot copy files. Following can be some of the root causes of this error.
- Your Windows installation media is corrupted. Try cleaning the disc with a soft cloth, inserting it in the CD or DVD drive, and then beginning the Windows installation again. If that does not fix the problem you will need to contact Microsoft or the retailer from where you purchased Windows 8.
- The CD or DVD drive is not working properly. Or if there is too much disturbance to the computer during installation that can also create read errors. You may have to try installing Windows 8 from another media or replace the drive.
- If your computer has multiple CD or DVD drives, your computer might be trying to locate files on the wrong drive. Disable the drives that you aren't using. Otherwise, try inserting the disc into a different drive, and then start the installation again.
- This is usually caused by hardware or software that is incompatible with Windows 8.
- Uninstall all antivirus software, and then restart your computer. Don't forget to enable antivirus software after you install Windows.
- If the installation fails again, there might be a hardware incompatibility problem. Go to the Microsoft website to see if your computer can run Windows 8.
- If you have compatible hardware and your computer still stops responding, disable any unnecessary hardware. Remove or disable network adapters, sound cards, and USB devices; and then restart the installation.
- Make sure that the monitor cable connections are tight and that the video card is correctly installed in the computer. If the monitor image flickers, you might need to change the monitor resolution.
- Also check the monitor software and video card. You might also need to get the latest driver for your video card or monitor.
