How to Retrieve Deleted Emails for Outlook

Problem Description:
Sometimes you may accidentally delete important emails that you need. Depending upon which Outlook you are using there is a possibility that you may be able to recover these emails even after you have emptied the Delete Folder.
Affected Products:
Office 365, Outlook.com, Hotmail, Outlook 2013, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007 & Outlook 2003.
Cause of the Problem:
  • Use accidentally or unintentionally deleted important emails
Instructions for Recovering Deleted Emails :
Step 1 : Restore Deleted Emails in Outlook Email Client (e.g. Outlook 2010, 2013)
  1. You can recover some deleted items, like messages, appointments, contacts, tasks, and notes, even after the Deleted Items folder is emptied or you’ve “hard deleted” an item by pressing Shift+Delete.
  2. This feature works however only if Outlook client is using a Microsoft Exchange Server and not with a POP3 or IMAP email account.
  3. The best way to check what type of Outlook Account you are using, is to Click on Folder, if you see an option that says "Recover Deleted Items", you are using Exchange and maybe able to recover the deleted emails. If this option is not available, there is really not a whole lot you can do to recover the deleted emails.
Step 2 : Restore Deleted Emails in Outlook Webmail (e.g. Outlook.com or Hotmail)
  1. With Outlook.com, you can recover email that might have been accidently deleted from your inbox. This is also helpful if your account has been hacked, because hackers often delete all the messages in an account.
  2. In the left pane of the Outlook.com window, click the Deleted folder. At the bottom of the window, click recover deleted messages.
  3. Outlook.com will recover as many messages as possible and put them in your Deleted folder. If you don't see the deleted messages that you wanted, it means they are permanently lost.
Step 3 : Restore Deleted Emails in Outlook WebApp
  1. Outlook Web App is the web browser version of Outlook that is used by Office 365. If you’re using Office 365, items deleted from your Deleted Items folder remain recoverable for 14 days by default.
  2. Sign in to your account. For more information, see Sign in to Outlook Web App.
  3. In your email folder list, right-click Deleted Items, and then click Recover deleted items. Select the item you want, and then select Recover.
  4. The item will be moved to its default location. Messages will go to your Inbox, calendar items will go to your Calendar, contacts to your Contacts folder, and tasks to your Tasks folder.
  5. You can also purge items that are shown in the Recover deleted items box. Select the item, and then click Purge. If you purge an item, you won’t be able to use Recover deleted items to get it back. Purging a message won’t remove it from any backups that were made before you purged it.
