How to Uninstall McAfee® Site Advisor

Problem Description:
SiteAdvisor is a free product that comes as a standalone plugin that runs with your browsers or an integrated module within a McAfee security suite you may have purchased (such as McAfee Total Protection). Depending on which of the two you have the instructions for uninstalling will be different.
Affected Products:
McAfee Site Advisor for Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox & Safari browsers
Cause of the Problem:

Instructions for Uninstalling McAfee Site Advisor:
Step 1 : Disable McAfee Site Advisor in browser plugin
  1. If you want to temporarily disable McAfee simply disable the plugin in the browser.
  2. If you are using Google Chrome as the browser, for instance, type chrome://plugins/ in the Chrome browser window,
  3. This will give you a list of all the plugins – enabled and disabled – on your computer.
  4. Find the McAfee Site Advisor plugin and disable it.
Step 2 : Uninstalling McAfee Site Advisor as standalone application
  1. First close all web browsers since the McAfee Site Advisor runs as a plugin and you will not be able to uninstall it while it is running.
  2. Open the Windows Control Panel and launch the Programs and Features applet to get to Add or Remove Progam applet.
  3. Select McAfee SiteAdvisor from the programs list and click Uninstall or Remove.
Step 3 : Uninstalling McAfee Site Advisor when it is part of a McAfee product suite.
  1. First close all web browsers since the McAfee Site Advisor runs as a plugin and you will not be able to uninstall it while it is running.
  2. Open the Windows Control Panel and launch the Programs and Features applet to get to Add or Remove Progam applet.
  3. Select McAfee Product Suite you may have installed and remove it. It should give you an option during the removal of which McAfee products you want to remove. Only select the Site Advisor.
