Microsoft Office Installation Hangs

Problem Description:
This may happen when you are installing Office by downloading a copy over the internet. Office may simply hang after some time and the installation percentage is stuck at (say) 80 to 90 % and does not change no matter how long you wait.
Affected Products:
Microsoft Office 2013; Microsoft Office 2010.
Cause of the Problem:
  • Print Spooler service is interfering with Office Installation
  • Microsoft office files downloaded maybe corrupted
  • Older version of Office files still on computer
Instructions to Fix Installation Hangs Error :
Step 1 : Pause Print Spooler Temporarily
  1. You can temporarily stop the Print Spooler service, try to install Office again and then restart the service to fix the problem.
  2. On a Windows 8 PC, type services.msc from the Start screen and tap or click services in the list of results.
  3. On a Windows 7 PC, click Start > Run, type services.msc, and then click OK. Look through the list of services, find Print Spooler, and open it. Click Stop.
  4. Try installing Office again. Once installation is complete, restart the print spooler service.
Step 2 : Try Repair Office Files
  1. Open Control Panel, and choose Programs and Features.
  2. In the Uninstall or change a program window, find and select the Microsoft Office product you're trying to install from the list.
  3. Tap or click Change, choose Online Repair and tap or click Repair.
Step 3 : Remove older version of Office
  1. Setup may also hang if the older version of Office is not completely uninstalled.
  2. Install the Fix It troubleshooter http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9815935, click Save in the File Download dialog box.
  3. When it's done, click Open folder, find the file (the name should start with O15CTRRemove) and double-click it to run the troubleshooter.
  4. After Fix it has run, restart the computer and see if you can now install the newer version of Office.
